Sanna
Delmonico, M.S., R.D.
Founder of Tiny Tummies
Sanna Delmonico is a registered dietitian, a curious
eater, an avid cook and gardener who believes that good
nutrition comes naturally from simple, seasonal food.
She started Tiny Tummies literally on the kitchen table,
with the message is that feeding the family is important.
As a new mother, she had searched for credible information
about feeding children, but had found very little.
A San Francisco Bay Area native, Sanna graduated from
San Francisco State University with a degree in dietetics
and earned a Master's degree in nutrition from Louisiana
State University. Sanna has worked as a Newborn Intensive
Care Unit nutritionist, pediatric outpatient nutritionist,
and has counseled hundreds of parents and children in
a private practice.
For twelve years, Sanna edited the nationally distributed Tiny Tummies newsletter. Today, she teaches classes about feeding children and cooking for the family to parent and professional groups, and is a nutrition instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College.
Sanna's food writing and recipes have appeared in magazines
including Child, Women's Health and Fitness, Baby Talk,
and L.A. Parent. She contributed recipes to the American
Dietetic Association's book Cooking Healthy Across
America (Wiley, 2004) and is currently writing The
Tiny Tummies Cookbook. As a nutrition consultant,
Sanna has worked with food companies including Barbara's
Bakery and Fran's Healthy Helpings, leading nutrition
seminars for parents and helping to develop a nutrition
game for children. Sanna has talked about feeding families
on television with Dr. Dean Edell, on KUSI-TV in San Diego
and on KRON-TV in San Francisco. She has been interviewed
about children's nutrition on dozens of radio stations
around the country. Sanna lives with her husband and daughter
in Napa, California.
